Unit Awards

Gold Star

GOLD STAR – The Gold Star represents an Honor Unit w/Distinction (HUD). A unit that earns the Gold Star has demonstrated exceptional performance in all areas of Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC). Receiving this rating reflects a strong bond and working relationship between a JROTC unit and the hosting high school. It is the highest level of achievement and honor that a JROTC unit can earn during an accreditation inspection.

White Star

WHITE STAR – The White Star represents an Honor Unit (HU). A unit that earns the White Star has demonstrated a high standard of instruction and performance during the school year, as determined by the United States Army Cadet Command (USACC) and as designated in permanent orders. This is the second highest award that a JROTC unit can achieve in an accreditation inspection.

Blue Star

BLUE STAR – The Blue Star represents a Merit Unit (MU). A unit that earns the Blue Star has demonstrated significant performance in all areas of JROTC, as determined by USACC and as designated in permanent orders. This is the third highest award that a JROTC unit can achieve in an accreditation inspection.

Wreath

ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT WREATH - Cadets with at least a B average in all subjects and an A average in JROTC are authorized to wear the Academic Achievement Wreath and receive the Academic Achievement Ribbon (N-1-3). It will be worn on the issue or Cadet-type uniform only during the academic term following the term when the Cadet earned it.

Red Felt

RED FELT pads are presented for the 2nd Academic Achievement Wreath Award.

Silver Felt

SILVER FELT pads are presented for the 3rd Academic Achievement Wreath Award.

Gold Felt

GOLD FELT pads are presented for the 4th Academic Achievement Wreath Award.
